Project Edge wins Innovation Award

Partnership with London fibre provider Zayo pays off for both teams.

We are delighted to have won the ‘Fixed Network Infrastructure Innovation’ Award at the 2014 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, in recognition of our collaboration with Zayo as part of Project Edge, our ambitious programme of network coverage expansion.  Zayo’s expertise in dark fibre provisioning and its ability to quickly design and build large scale infrastructure networks, has supported us in our quest to deliver our brand of high capacity, ultra resilient connectivity services right to the doorsteps of Britain’s largest and most demanding enterprises.

Back in November 2013, we were delighted to announce the launch of Project Edge, our plan to extend the footprint of our UK-wide network.  Just six months later, we have added 54 new high capacity Points of Presence (PoPs) at key UK Central Business Districts to the network. In that short time, we and have also established LIGHTNOW – a new high-capacity, ultra-resilient optical networking service providing 10Gigabit wavelength connectivity between 21 of the busiest data centres in the London area. LIGHTNOW services can be provisioned within a week of order acceptance.

We also launched “Edge Plus” earlier this month, bringing Project Edge to a close and introducing 100 percent national coverage of our Ethernet services.
