Neos Networks has added seven major Manchester data centres to its lists of on-net PoPs.

London, March 10, 2015: Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure services and part of the SSE Group, today announced that it is adding seven new Manchester data centres in the city centre to its high capacity, high availability national network, continuing its nationwide programme to connect the UK’s most popular data centres to demanding customers across the world.

The data centres that are now fully participating members of the Neos Networks’ national optical network in Manchester are:

  • DataCentred
  • Dock 10 – Media City
  • M247
  • Telecity Group, Williams House
  • Telecity Group, Reynolds House
  • Telecity Group, Synergy House
  • UKFast – MaNOC 6

NB: Telecity Group, Joule House and Telecity Group, Kilburn House in Manchester were already “on-net”.

Neos Networks has taken the decision to invest in Manchester due to its status as Britain’s second largest city and the increasing numbers of businesses, including the BBC, that are choosing to relocate there. The Office of National Statistics (ONS) reported this year that Manchester had the highest growth rate of all Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas in England; experiencing growth of 4.6 percent (£2.5 billion) in 2013. The sustained inward investment in Manchester has resulted in a marked increase in software development and IT services businesses in the region. Couple that with a commensurate increase in demand for faster and more reliable access to the cloud computing service that are hosted in the city’s data centres and the investment rationale for Neos Networks was clear.

By adding these seven data centres to its nationwide community of similarly connected sites, Neos Networks is now better able to support enterprises in Manchester, and to help those organisations connect to customers, suppliers and partners at extremely high speeds, and with Neos Networks characteristically high availability network they can do this nationwide.

“Our decision to bring seven new data centres on-net in and around Manchester, the UK’s second largest city and business hub, is in line with our continued focus on delivering our ultra reliable and high quality Ethernet and optical networking services to the UK’s most demanding enterprises,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks.  “We look forward to furthering our nationwide reach, with Manchester playing a key part of our strategic network expansion plans.”

This latest initiative follows the recent completion of the first phase of Neos Networks’ ambitious network expansion plan, Project Edge, which increased the reach of its fibre network to more than 12,000+km with a total of 234 points of presence, serving more than 200,000 metropolitan business postcodes, nationwide.
